Available to Wyoming families who have children with hearing loss ages birth to kindergarten.

The R.E.A.D. Plus Program is a unique opportunity provided at no cost to Wyoming families who have children with hearing loss ages birth to kindergarten. You will be loaned high quality children’s books through the mail from the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) Outreach Library.

This program is provided by  Wyoming Families for Hands & Voices in collaboration with the Wyoming Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program (EHDI) and WDE Outreach for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. Sessions are provided via technology 1-2 times per month at the family’s convenience.

Families are empowered with strategies to support their child’s speech and language development. Support is provided to help families understand their child’s hearing loss and the potential impact it may have on their child. Families will learn developmentally appropriate “book sharing” strategies and are are offered the option to learn to learn to use sign language while receiving support to explore speech and language targets within books.

Families in the R.E.A.D. Plus Program will have the opportunity to also receive support to help track their child’s development.

  • The R.E.A.D. Plus program is available to all families regardless of communication choice.
  • Participating families are encouraged to invite extended family members, caregivers and or early intervention providers to attend the R.E.A.D. Plus sessions. This helps build community for your child.
  • Families have the opportunity to have a deaf adult role model or a trained Guide By You Side Guide join the R.E.A.D. Plus sessions.

Susan is amazing! Our family has been blessed with her services for almost 5 years now. The education I’ve gained on unilateral hearing loss, and sign language is priceless. Her compassion and caring heart shines through. I look forward to our bi-monthly zoom sessions.
